Our Vision

A community where:

  • women are safe from assault, intimidation and degradation by partners;
  • men and women live in relationships of mutual respect and equality;
  • children see their parents as role models for healthy, non-abusive relationships.

Our Goal

Our goal is to stop violence and abuse in intimate relationships.

Change is possible

There is no excuse for abuse, and no one deserves to be beaten, threatened or humiliated by their partner. When our children live with violence and disrespect, that's what they learn.

Relationships of respect and equality are possible - change can start with you.

What we do

For 25 years the Victoria Family Violence Prevention Society, using the name Family Violence Project, delivered services and programs for men, women, and the community. Unfortunately, in September 2008 the long-standing funding shortfall finally necessitated the end of our service delivery and the doors closed, literally and figuratively, on that phase of our society's history.

Men's and women's programs that were already in progress were transferred to Pacific Centre Family Services Association (PCFSA). With our approval and support, PCFSA will use the name "Family Violence Project" in the context of this continued service delivery.

Pacific Centre Family Services Association may be contacted at 250-478-8357 or 1-866-478-8357 or via their website at www.pacificcentrefamilyservices.org .

In December 2008 the Society's members elected a new Board of Directors with a mandate to determine, with input from various stakeholders in Greater Victoria, including our former clients, how we can best serve our community with respect to addressing relationship violence and abuse in the community. That work continues.

Change starts with awareness - welcome to our website!
